Ok, everyone… it’s happening! It took 24 years, but now finally Grabbel and The Final Cut‘s very first concert outside of Germany kicks off on September 27, 2013 at Stereo Cafe Bar in Glasgow, Scotland!!!
We’re so glad to be invited by our all-time heroes and good fellows Close Lobsters to join them for their homeland show! The Wiseacres are also playing, so book your flights now and come over to Glasgow in September, yeah! [picture taken by Nicole at Popfest Berlin last year — it shows the GRABBEL LOBSTERS including all members of both bands]

Grabbel and The Final Cut‘s live album “Feedback Part II” is out now! It’s available as Digital Download and Enhanced Audio CD in a beautifully designed Digipack (including live video clips on CD-ROM part of the disc). You can order it worldwide through Bandcamp or Amazon.
Featuring 11 tracks recorded live in Cottbus and Hamburg in May this year, “Feedback Part II” is an amazing collection of old songs that have been written 20 years ago, and new songs that haven’t been recorded yet in the studio. So this album marks a turning point in the band’s career, providing a deep insight into their current live set.
Interesting how a song like “Oppa Yo!” got reworked (compare it to the 1990 live version that’s available as a free download via Bandcamp), and funny how Phillip Boa and the Voodooclub find a special mention in the song “Blow” (Grabbel and The Final Cut were supporting Boa on these two shows the live recordings are taken from). Of course all songs from the “Get Your Feet Back On The Ground EP” (released through Captured Tracks earlier this year) are present here as well, and it’s a nice surprise to find the old classic “Feedback Party” (which works very well in 2012 despite the missing keyboard) among the album’s tracks. But it’s a yet unreleased song that may have the biggest impact on people: “Never Always Mine (But I’ll Be Fine)”
Head on over to the Bandcamp site to listen to the entire album and while you’re there, order yourself the 6-panel Digipack CD version. It looks awesome!

here’s an acoustic version of the Grabbel and The Final Cut song “Dark Side” (just a man and his guitar…) as heard on the 10th anniversary show of “Wellenrauschen”, hosted by Gunnar Theuerkauff on Lüneburg based FM station Radio ZuSa (broadcast date: May 6, 2012).
This version was recorded on April 7, 2012. Even though the 4-track cassette got replaced by a laptop, it’s still done in true LoFi spirit, using a simple plastic microphone (a black one this time!) directly plugged into the computer…
Stream or download and enjoy!

Happy Record Store Day, everyone!
Grabbel and The Final Cut’s “Get Your Feet Back On The Ground” EP was finally released by Captured Tracks on beautiful red marbled vinyl on January 24, 2012.
It wasn’t until March that record shops outside the US had received their copies, but by now your favorite shop should have it available for you. So as it’s Record Store Day today, maybe go there and check! If your store of choice doesn’t have the EP in stock, let them order it through the Captured Tracks distributors (just letting them know what record you want plus the distributor’s name should be enough…)

So… go out and buy some records — in stores!

now here’s a must-read: the first “full length” review of our Get Your Feet Back On The Ground EP, over at the Dénouements site at bobetbagundang.com.
“Full length” 😉 means that all three EP tracks are discussed, and the surrounding story about Grabbel and The Final Cut‘s history and resurfacing is wonderfully described. And they conclude…:
“In mere ten minutes, Get Your Feet Back on the Ground summons the years of woozy and distorted intimations of shoegaze and noise rock. Considering the masculine sound Grabbel and the Final Cut provide in this EP eschews the group to be catalogued with the rest of the music one can tap on these days which kind of worries me. Shall this be charted as one of 2012 releases or one of shoegaze gems unearthed to give rock music a kick in the shins. Either way, a Hamburg secret is out and even decades after its recording, Get Your Feet Back on the Ground is still as relevant and timeless, a could-have-been missed treasure that is discovered with a noble purpose.”
